What is your Claim to Fame?
I have set personal records throughout the seasons in the 5K, 2 mile and 800. In Swimming I have set personal records in the 500, 200, and 50 Free.
Who is your Role Model?
Tim Tebow. One of the things I really like about him – He does work really, but is also a Christian and that is also very important to me. As busy as I am, I always take time to make sure I go to church and I’m a member of the youth group. Every summer we go on a retreat…. Sometimes its a small camp outside of Boone where we do community service or work with the orphanage. This past year we went to Lumberton and that’s where Hurricane Matthew hit, I was able to help rebuild a house and that has been something that has been an amazing opportunity for me.
What are Your Plans for the Future?
I will be attending East Carolina University to major in Health Fitness.
Why Do You Love to Play Your Sport?
I love swimming because of the team and individualized aspect. Through the whole season you have your team to support you, but your times and performance are based on how hard you push yourself.
What Made You Decide to Play the Sport for Which You Were Named Penn Station Athlete of the Season?
I started swimming at a very young age because it was something that my parents loved doing. It didn’t take long until I had the same love for the sport that they had.
How has Participating in High School Athletics Benefited You?
Participating in high school athletics has not only made me a better athlete, but a better student. It has forced me to manage my time and spend all the time I wasn’t at practice studying for tests or finishing homework.
