- 11th Annual St. Nicholas European Christmas Market – Fun family event to celebrate the traditions of Christmas. Shop beautiful new and collectible gifts and decorative items from Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Czech/Slovakia, Scandinavia, and Ireland/British Isles. Friday and Saturday at the fairgrounds.
- Christmas by Candlelight – Storytelling, cookies and cider, live music, singing, dancing, and history on a candlelit tour Friday night at Duke Homestead.
- Cinderella – This musical comedy is a holiday sugarplum for the whole family. Just the right mixture of comedy and romance can add the sparkle of magic to your holiday season. Through Dec. 16 at Raleigh Little Theatre.
- Ira David Wood III’s A Christmas Carol – this weekend at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.
- Elf: The Broadway Musical – this weekend at DPAC.
- NC Chinese Lantern Festival – at Booth Amphitheatre through Jan. 13.
Friday, December 8th
- Durham Holiday Parade and Fun Fest – Starts at Main and Dillard Streets at 10 a.m. Saturday and ends near Duke University East Campus (Main Street and Buchanan Boulevard).
- Wake Forest Christmas Parade – Area residents are invited to experience the sights and sounds of the holiday season at the 2018 Wake Forest Christmas Parade. Kicks off at 1 p.m. Saturday in downtown Wake Forest.
- Chapel Hill- Carrboro Holiday Parade – Experience the exciting sights and sounds of marching bands, vocalists, beautifully decorated floats, and youth group performances. Starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the old Post Office on East Franklin Street and ends at the Carrboro Town Hall on Main Street.
- Fayetteville Rotary Christmas Parade – Starts Saturday starting at 11 a.m on Person Street and end at Railroad Station.
- Holiday Hops and Shops Market – at Big Boss Brewing Company on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
- Stories: Home for the Holidays – Enjoy seven tales of festivity, failures and all the things that make the holidays terribly amusing Saturday night at Kings.
- Triangle Youth Ballet’s The Nutcracker – This is the 24th season of the Triangle Youth Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. The full length production has a cast of 100 dancers on stage and 36 professional musicians in the orchestra pit. At Carolina Theatre of Durham Saturday night.

- Downtown Cary Food & Flea (Downtown Cary) – Sunday with live music, arts, shopping, food trucks and craft beer.
